Stage 1

5 mm. carbon steel

Stage 2

locking stone and foot distance

Stage 3

escapewheel clearance

Stage 4

remove side material

drill hole for locking stone

drill and tap for gold spring and foot

Stage 5

remove from stock and shape horn

reduce spring to 0.010"

Stage 6

wrap in soft iron wire

Stage 7

heat to critical temperature and quench in water/oil combination

Stage 8

clean and temper to dark straw

horn to blue

Stage 9

reduce spring to 0.002"

Stage 10

polish

Machining New Arbors and Pinions

Replace the Damaged and Worn Out

With the wheels removed the new arbors and pinions are machined to the same dimensions as the old
After mounting and trueing the wheels the are checked for for meshing in the depthing tool

Bespoke movements, commissions taken.
